5 (Easy!) Braided Hairstyles for Summer
Ah, beautiful weather. With June here to kick off sunshine, there’s no time like the present to play around with hairstyles that channel summer vibes.
We grabbed a few essentials from Meijer’s beauty department, including bobby pins, hairspray and hair ties, and pulled together 5 braided styles that will elevate your look during the next few months. These ‘dos are simple to accomplish and require minimal braided know-how, so don’t feel like you need to be a salon pro to look the sun-kissed, boho part this summer!
Look #1: Multi-Braid Half Up
Instructions: Start with your hair all down. On one side of your head, create 2 – 3 individual braids. Make the braids loose enough to be easily pulled back, but tight enough to maintain hold. Secure in place as you do the same on the opposite side of your head. Once you have braids on both sides, secure in the back with a clip – we love this gold decorative option from Meijer, which is from the Goody Classics Barrettes pack!
Look #2: French Braid Half Up
Instructions: Start a French braid at the front of your hair, and keep braiding until you get half-way through. Secure the braid with an elastic band (we love Goody Ouchless ones because they blend into hair) and wrap a small hair strand around band to cover up the elastic. Secure both braid and hair-wrapped elastic band with bobby pins. The remainder of your hair should be loose and down. Spray braid with a hairspray like Garnier Fructis Style Flexible Control Anti-Humidity Aerosol to smooth flyaway hairs.
Look #3: French Braid Ponytail
Instructions: Start a French braid at the front of your hair, and keep braiding until you get half-way through. Where the braid stops in the middle of your head, secure with bobby pins. Take the rest of your hair and pull into a high ponytail, securing with an elastic band. When braid is secure, remove the bobby pins that were securing the braid. Spray sides and ponytail with hairspray to smooth flyaway hairs.
Look #4: French Braid Bun
Instructions: French braid your hair, starting in the front and leading all the way to the bottom back of your head. Once you get approximately 75% done, bring in the remainder of your hair into a low ponytail. Twist hair into a bun and secure with bobby pins. Spray braid and bun with hairspray to smooth flyaway hairs.
Look #5: Loose Braid With A Pop of Color
Instructions: The easier, the better! Simply sweep your hair into a loose braid and secure the end with a decorative tie like the one pictured from Meijer. For this look we used Goody Ouchless Ribbon Elastics, which came with lots of cute colors and patterns. No matter what color or route you go, the hair band will give your look a little pop of personality!
See? Simple and easy braided hairstyles that all require minimal maintenance and leg work to do. We love the laid back ease of all these looks, and can’t wait to start the summer with these fresh styles in tow! Remember to grab all the necessities to create these looks at Meijer.
